| 2007 28 - 30th September - N.E.M.E.D.A's Fire in the Belly Festival - The North East Middle Eastern Dance Association held their well known event in Wodonga in 2007 and Essential Rhythms was proud to be apart of this wonderful spectacle of song, dance and colour. It was a huge night and everyone was kept well entertained by the amazing displays of traditional and new age dance routines from many different cultures and countries. We ran a couple of percussion workshops during the day and then played some live percussion for the dancers to all get up and have some fun. To view the event schedule for 2007 and/or to find contacts details for the next event please click here. 21st July - Ekome Grooves: African Drum Workshop with Simon Fraser and Mady Keita - Wodonga Civic Centre 12 - 2pm & 3 - 5pm. All ages workshops for beginner and the more experienced, with participants learning traditional rhythms from Ghana in West Africa. With support from Wodonga City Council's Arts Development Team the day was a great success and we hope to repeat the event again in 2008. 11th March - Commonwealth Games Opening Celebration for Indigo Shire Council in Chiltern, N.E. Victoria - As a part of the C.G. opening celebrations the every region in Victoria adopted a country to help celebrate the games. Indigo Shire's adopted country was Swaziland and many of Swaziland's culture was incorporated into the days events. There was children from all regional schools performing a few native dance routines with myself and others providing the drum routine for them. Click here to view Pictures of the day. Plus you can find out more by visiting the Indigo Shire Council web site 13th February - Yackandandah Continuing Education Network - Y.C.E.N - Community Drum Circle 6th February - Term 1 - Felltimber Community Centre, Rhythm & Percussion workshop - Meeting on a weekly basis to show & explore the opportunities and benefits found in percussion instruments. This course will run again in Term 2. Please contact us or the centre for more info. 11th January - Upper Murray Family Care - Interchange Program - Feathertop Chalet in Harrietville.7:30pm to 9:00pm facilitating a drum workshop with 21 children between 9-18 years of age with various physical and mental challenges. The kids made various instruments during the day e.g.: drums, rhythm sticks etc.. to be able to use in the evening. It was a great night and a great venue.

29th October - Upper Murray Regional Library - Creative Writing & Story Telling Festival - 10:30am - 12:30pm. Will be held in the Wodonga Library Courtyard. For both children and their parents to experience and enjoy participating in drum circles. 24th October - Indigo Shire Council: Commonwealth Games Celebration - Essential Rhythms is providing percussion for the dancers in conjunction with the events happening in March 2006. 19th August - Galen Catholic College, Wangaratta - Year 7 Music Students - Four groups of 12 or more students. 11:10am - 3:30pm. 15th November -- M.E.G.A.S Busker's Festival - We participated on the day to promote drum circles, their benefits and to show how easy it is for people of all ages to pick-up. To see photos of other acts on the day please log onto: www.pbase.com/ricspix/megas 13th November - All Ages Gig - Art Space Wodonga - 5:30pm - 7:00pm - Organised by the Community Development Officer for the Wodonga City Council. 13th November - Wewak Street Public School - workshop for children with physical and mental challenges - Children aged between 7 and 14 played together in groups of 8 -10. They enjoyed the opportunity and had fun drumming with each other, and the teachers. 30th

Officer, City of Wodonga. 21st October - Felltimber Community Centre - Children's Rhythm & Percussion workshop - Started 21.10.03 and runs for 7 weeks, meeting on a weekly basis to show & explore with children the opportunities and benefits found in percussion instruments. 20th October - Mitchell Secondary College - Active Learning Centre - a drum circle held for teenagers aged between 11 and 13. The aim of this workshop was to encourage more cooperation and interaction with fellow classmates and teachers. 11th October - Upper Murray Regional Library - Creative Writing & Story Telling Festival - was held on the 11th of October in the Wodonga Library Courtyard. Both children and their parents enjoyed participating in the drum circle and many parents and children drum together for the first time, which is a real confidence booster for the children. 11th September - Wodonga City Council - Youth Services Drum Circle for people aged between 15 and 25. September 11, 2003. The circle is held in the Art Space Museum in Wodonga. Cost is $5.00 per person per month and all are invited no matter what level of experience you have.
